Work From Home Without Feeling Alone
A Guide to Digital Co-Working
Two years ago, starting her own design business from home, seemed like a great idea at the start: no commute, flexible hours, and working in her PJs. But lately, isolation was creeping in. She’s been getting up later, focus fading, and doom scrolling. She had started to miss her office friends and the casual coffee chats.
One day, while scrolling through a creative business forum, she stumbled on a post about online co-working. The concept seemed simple, and curious she signed up.
What she found was more than a Zoom call, on the call were a group of friendly faces, a wellness coach from America, an interior designer from the coast, an independent travel agent from the Home Counties. Each of them shared what they were working on, and they started the timer and screens went off.
After this session, she left energised, not just because she had got some long overdue work done, but from a sense of connection.
She started coming every week and soon she wasn’t just working from home, she was working with others. Motivation returned, solitude faded, and her business began thrive and feel fun again.
In today’s business world, we can feel disconnected from others when we are working from home, especially when we may be working far from others. Opportunities for connection, collaboration and sharing can seem few and far between.
In the isolation and lockdown of 2020, we turned to digital tools to reconnect, and what was a tool of necessity has now shown that it can be a great opportunity for accessible connection. Virtual co-working is one way that we can leverage these tools to support those for whom the four walls of their home office can feel constricting, and a perfect low-impact, low-cost addition to your business strategy.

When you spend time working together, this opens opportunities for exchanging ideas. Being in the same space, even if just ‘virtually’, allows for innovative solutions, exchanges, new business opportunities and future collaborations.
3. Improve Productivity and Accountability
When you start to co-work regularly, in structured sessions help you to stay on task. Working with your peers regularly brings with it a sense of accountability as you share your progress with your peers.
4. Enjoy Flexibility and Convenience
Zero commute time, no messy traffic and uncomfortable travel. You work with your own tools, in your own environment, but with structure and support allowing you to use your time more effectively.
5. Tap into Collective Knowledge
